US Open: Anisimova Faces an Infernal Draw to Defend Her Finalist Points

Finalist at the US Open last year, Amanda Anisimova will once again have to produce an exceptional run in New York to defend the many points she earned in 2025.

A tricky 2026 season

Now world No. 10, the American arrives in less convincing form than last season, when she notably reached the Wimbledon final before continuing her run to the final at Flushing Meadows.

She had then perfectly bounced back after her huge disappointment at the All England Club, where she suffered a 6-0, 6-0 defeat to Iga Swiatek.

In New York, Anisimova had notably taken her revenge on the Pole in the quarter-finals before dominating Naomi Osaka in the last four.

Anisimova faces a very tough path

This year, the task looks particularly difficult for the American, who will have to defend her points in a far from easy draw.

For her opening match, Anisimova will face her compatriot Ashlyn Krueger. In case of victory, she could then meet the young Lilli Tagger, before a potential third round against Anastasia Potapova.

Things could seriously get complicated in the fourth round with a possible clash against Mirra Andreeva, the No. 5 seed.

Gauff in the quarters, Rybakina or Swiatek in the semis

And the quarter-final would not be any simpler, as Coco Gauff could stand in her way.

To hope to reach the final at Flushing Meadows once again, Anisimova might then have to get past another huge name, with Elena Rybakina or Iga Swiatek potentially awaiting her in the last four.

A particularly demanding path that will therefore require the American to quickly rediscover the level she showed during her incredible New York campaign in 2025.
