Detroit Tigers continue road trip with 4-game series vs Chicago White Sox

The Detroit Tigers’ six-game winning streak came to an unceremonious end on Wednesday afternoon with a 5-1 loss to Max Scherzer and the Toronto Blue Jays. For the third straight time, Keider Montero only lasted four innings, but truly it was the lack of offense and some poor defense that led to the defeat.

The Motor City Kitties now move on to Chicago, where they will take on the White Sox in a four-game series this weekend starting on Thursday. Left-hander Framber Valdez will get the start in the opener looking to continue his streak of 13 innings without allowing an earned run this month.

The 32-year-old faced the ChiSox once before this season back on May 30, when he surrendered four runs on six hits (one home run) and two walks while striking out four and uncorking a wild pitch over 6 2/3 innings to earn his second loss of the season.

For Chicago, right-hander Erick Fedde will face the Tigers for the third time in his 15th start this season. Over the 33-year-old’s 8 2/3 innings of work against the Olde English D so far, he has allowed four runs on eight hits (one home run) and four walks while striking out seven, earning a loss in the process.
