Lexington High School on lockdown, evidence indicates threat ‘is not credible’

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) – Lexington High School has been placed on lockdown following a phoned-in threat Thursday, according to district and law enforcement officials.

Deputies have established a large perimeter around the campus. Under current lockdown protocols, no one is permitted to enter or exit the grounds other than law enforcement personnel and school administrators.

Authorities have not yet released details on the nature of the threat. Parents and driver are advised to avoid the area while officers sweep and secure the area.

Just after 1:30 p.m., Lexington School District 1 said in a message to parents that investigators found evidence “to indicate the threat is not credible.”

“The campus remains closed until all classrooms have been cleared by law enforcement as a precaution. We will notify you when the lockdown has been lifted,” the district said.
