Typhoon Dujuan: Japan warns of flood and landslides as powerful typhoon approaches

Japan has raised emergency alerts in Tokyo and surrounding regions as a powerful Typhoon Dujuan moves towards its eastern coast.

Authorities have sent out emergency alerts to warn the public that Dujuan, Japan’s 25th storm of the year, could unleash landlslides and floods.

Over 200 flights have been cancelled so far and some train services have been suspended.

Japan’s Meteorological Agency has warned Dujuan could bring record rainfall through Tuesday and urged residents in coastal areas to stay alert for landslides.

Dujuan has hit in the midst of a five-day holiday and forced the cancellation of several events.
