A weather update on the jumbotron of Williams-Brice Stadium before South Carolina football plays Mississippi State on Sept. 19, 2026.

South Carolina’s matchup with Mississippi State will be starting a bit later than scheduled.
Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks were supposed to kick off vs the Bulldogs at 4:20 p.m. But, a lightning strike within eight miles of Williams-Brice Stadium at 4 p.m. means the game won’t start on time.
Lightning delays last at least 30 minutes — plus both teams haven’t completely warmed up yet.
Pre-game warmups were interrupted at 3:05 p.m. due to lighting in the vicinity. Teams returned to the field at 3:35 p.m. before they were pulled off again five minutes later. USC reported another strike at 4 p.m., and lightning was still in the area as of 4:30 p.m.
It was not raining at Williams-Brice, and fans were still being allowed into the stadium.
This is the second consecutive week the Gamecocks have dealt with a weather delay. Last week, South Carolina’s matchup with Towson was delayed for nearly 75 minutes in the beginning of the third quarter due to weather.
